IMSS performs more than 100,000 specialty and family medicine consultations

#InstitutoMexicanoDelSeguroSocial.- In order to strengthen and increase the timeliness of services that were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) carried out more than 100,000 consultations in three days: 23,929 Specialty Consultations and 76,368 Family Medicine Consultations.

From June 10 to 12, within the framework of the Seventh National Health Services Continuity Day, in the 35 IMSS Representative Offices in the states and the 25 High Specialty Medical Units (UMAE), 3,277 surgeries, 60,866 chronic degenerative disease screenings, three kidney transplants and two cornea transplants were also carried out.

Each entity prioritized care with the specialties with the longest deferral of Outpatient Consultation and Surgery at the Second and Third Level of care, as well as Integrated Preventive Actions and Family Medicine consultation in First Level medical units.

The specialties with the highest demand are Surgery, Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Oncology, Traumatology and Orthopedics, and Urology; while among the most requested surgical care are General Surgery, Maxillofacial Surgery, Traumatology and Orthopedics, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Oncosurgery and Urology.
